Flapjack

Chewy, oaty biscuits. No mess, no fuss.

Ingredients:
9 oz Porridge oats
2 oz Demerera
6 oz Butter
2 oz Golden syrup

Method:
Bring the demerera, butter and syrup to the boil. Take off the heat and stir in the oats. Press onto a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and bake @ Gas 5 for 10 minutes. Chill, cut and eat.

Optional:
To spice things up you could add any ammount of things to the butter mix as you heat it up: a good pinch of ground cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg, finely grated zest of an orange or lemon, or a handful of sultanas or almonds. You could even add some chocolate chips, right at the end, or dip the flapjack in melted chocolate after cutting it.
