Temperature Conversion Table

The inverted Celsius is a perfectly acceptable scale where water freezes at 0 and boils at 100°c so why do i need to remember 212°? It's because a German glass-blower called Fahrenheit came up with his own scale complete with insane formula and 212°, dear friends, is the temperature at which his water boils. Thankfully Fahrenheit is avoided like the plague by most sane countries, but still, when i master the art of time travel i'm going back to 18th century Amsterdam to stroll into whichever crack house he was in at the time and i'm going to punch Daniel Fahrenheit right in the face!

These conversions aren't exact but rounded to the nearest 5°... after the rant inducing 212, obviously.

Celsius° Fahrenheit° Gas mark
100° 212° ---
110° 230° 1/4
130° 265° 1/2
140° 285° 1
150° 300° 2
170° 340° 3
180° 355° 4
190° 375° 5
200° 400° 6
220° 425° 7
230° 450° 8
240° 465° 9

Seldom will you need temperatures lower than these and your domestic oven probably won't go any higher but if you need to convert a specific temperaure you can use one of the following formulas:

To Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius:
Fahrenheit temp, subtract 32, multiply by 5, then divide by 9.

To Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit:
Celcius temp, multiply by 9, divide by 5, then add 32.
